One of the best games to come out for the iPhone/iPad is a $.99 gem named Angry Birds released by Clickgamer Technologies and developed by Rovio Mobile. This game exemplifies what works in mobile gaming at this moment. It’s inexpensive, has gameplay that can be rewarding in small chunks, makes perfect use of a touch screen and releases regular updates that include new levels and features. With that, users have flocked (ugh, sorry) to Angry Birds by the hundreds of thousands. Currently there are 229460 user ratings on the Apple App Store and the score is still at 5-stars. And soon we get to see how Android users will respond to this little bit of mobile gaming greatness.
A “massive beta test” will begin for “everyone that signed up” this Friday according to an email shown at Droid-Life.com.
We already knew that Angry Birds was on it’s way to the Android platform, but this beta announcement means we could see it quite soon. The Android Market needs this game, in my opinion. I’ve complained about the Market’s problems in a previous post, and while the problems aren’t just in the quality of available apps, I do think that a top-notch game will really help the Android platform in general.
Just be sure that when it becomes available, you get the right “Angry Birds”. The wild-wild-west that is the Android Market already has a app with that name out there. Looking over the comments, though, I guess I’ll pass.

Just signed up for their beta. I wonder how they will handle the “Angry Birds” app that already exists in the Android market. My guess is that there will also be some angry lawyers.

Haha..either angry lawyers or they’ll just push the other app down in the market as they gain popularity. Although, I can’t wait to see how the search results come up for the exact term “Angry Birds” when they are both up there.
